Risk management and algorithmic trading

When looking at the financial markets, every decision arises from the intersection of information and trading activity. For many people, the difficulty lies in bringing these elements together and turning them into a verifiable process. Following market trends, interpreting the economic context, choosing instruments, and managing a portfolio require time and attention. An integrated digital environment can help bring these activities together, making the transition from analysis to action more seamless. It is precisely from this need that the next step for 4FT Invest takes shape: the integration of Alpaca’s APIs.

What Is the Alpaca Broker Integration

Alpaca provides tools for integrating account opening and management functions, funding, and trade execution within financial applications.

Through this integration, users will be able to connect an Alpaca account and access the available U.S. financial instruments from the platform, using 4FT Invest’s analysis, trading, and risk-management functionalities in a single environment.

The goal? To offer a smoother experience, in which macroeconomic analysis and portfolio construction can interact through an integrated technology infrastructure.

What Changes with the Alpaca Broker Integration

The integration creates a link between the broker’s operational infrastructure and 4FT Invest’s proprietary analysis and management ecosystem.

Its value therefore lies in the continuity between the different stages of the process, from market analysis through to order management. Alpaca Broker API is designed to support the development of investment applications and brokerage services. For users, the integration means being able to manage the connection with the broker’s infrastructure from the platform and trade the supported instruments on U.S. markets. Securities brokerage services are provided by Alpaca Securities LLC, an Alpaca group company and member of FINRA and SIPC. The technology and related API services are instead provided by AlpacaDB, Inc.

The integration creates a true bridge between order execution and the proprietary analysis and management ecosystem developed by 4FT Invest.

From Analysis to Trading in a Single Environment

The platform supports the various stages of the decision-making process: interpreting the macroeconomic context, selecting instruments, constructing the portfolio, and managing operations.

With the integration of Alpaca’s APIs, users will be able to use the following in a coordinated way:

●    the financial analysis tools available on the platform;

●    4FT Invest’s proprietary macroeconomic models;

●    portfolio construction and monitoring functions;

●    risk-management tools;

●    the connection of algorithmic strategies;

●    the submission and management of orders relating to supported instruments.

The centralization of these functionalities helps reduce the gap between analysis and execution.

Users can thus better understand the logic connecting a market assessment, an allocation choice, and subsequent trading activity.

A more streamlined process also facilitates monitoring decisions and exposure to the markets. Every activity remains part of an overall view of the portfolio, based on the available functionalities and settings selected by the user.

The Role of the Economic Cycle in Portfolio Management

Among the distinctive elements of the approach is portfolio rotation based on the different phases of the economic cycle.

The proprietary model analyzes more than 25 macroeconomic indicators to assess the evolution of the economy and identify possible transitions between expansion, slowdown, recession, and recovery.

The indicators may cover areas such as:

●    inflation;

●    employment;

●    economic growth;

●    credit;

●    interest rates;

●    financial conditions.

The data used by the model are updated through FRED, an acronym for Federal Reserve Economic Data and the economic database of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. FRED collects hundreds of thousands of series from regional, national, and international sources.

The combined analysis of these indicators makes it possible to build a structured view of the macroeconomic context.

Depending on the phase identified, the platform can support adjustments to the allocation across sectors and asset classes, according to the criteria and rules defined by the proprietary methodology. For readers, this means understanding the logic behind dynamic portfolio management. Decisions can be linked to an organized set of data and a defined methodology, rather than depending exclusively on the observation of a single market movement.

Algorithmic Strategies and Risk Management

The integration with Alpaca expands the possibilities for connecting algorithmic strategies developed or selected within the 4FT Invest ecosystem. The APIs allow the platform to transmit trading instructions and monitor orders according to predefined parameters. This coordination links three important moments:

●    the signal generated by the strategy;

●    order execution;

●    exposure monitoring.
